Experience

Prior to joining Axiom Consulting Partners, Matt spent three years at FTI Consulting where he worked across various of the Company’s Corporate Finance & Restructuring service offerings.

Matt’s career highlights include:

  • Company-Side (“Debtor”) Restructuring – lead the development of a five-year business plan for a nationally recognized leader in family dining & entertainment whose ability to continue as a going concern was cast into doubt by the COVID-19 Pandemic. Matt’s work contributed to the bottoms-up forecast of more than 500 company-owned venues – built through iterative collaboration with the client CFO and working group. The business plan would play an instrumental role in securing Debtor-In-Possession (“DIP”) financing, as well as demonstrating plan feasibility in the successful chapter 11 reorganization of more than $1.3B in outstanding prepetition obligations.
  • M&A / Transaction Services – supported more than 30 discrete M&A transactions across a range of investment strategies and target valuations; helping clients to quickly assess and unlock value across the risk/return spectrum through in-depth financial and operational analyses. Matt’s M&A experience has spanned a range of industries including Automotive Component Mfg., Chemicals, Early Childhood Education, Healthcare, Industrial Mfg., Software/SaaS, and Telecommunications, among others.
  • Internal Firm Initiatives – while at FTI Consulting, he served as committee member of the Transactions Technology Initiative tasked with enhancing the Transactions practice’s client service capabilities using leading-edge technologies. Most notably, Matt’s work contributed to the development of a Microsoft Excel add-in capable of autonomously creating foundational client deliverables for use in Transactions engagements – leading to an improvement in quality and standardization, as well as driving increased billable hour efficiency. Matt worked collaboratively with the project’s program engineers throughout the end-to-end design, testing, and eventually practice-wide adoption of the tool in July 2020.

Matt earned a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Financial Analysis after graduating third in the 3/2 MBA Program at the Kelley School of Business (Indiana University) in May 2018. This highly selective program ranks second among public universities in producing the most sitting CFOs per the Crist|Kolder Volatility Report.

Matt additionally earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance & Accounting from the Kelley School of Business immediately preceding his MBA. The Kelley School of Business was ranked fourth overall in the most recent Bloomberg Businessweek – Best Undergraduate Business Schools rankings.
